Buyer's guide

The best AI visibility tools in 2026: a fair comparison

The leading AI visibility tools are Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and RankYourBrand. The right one depends on your budget, which AI engines you need covered, and whether you want a tool that tells you what to fix. RankYourBrand covers all six major engines from $40 a month; Otterly and AthenaHQ are the cheapest ways to start; Profound suits large enterprises.

We make RankYourBrand, so read our row with that in mind. Every other tool's figures come from its own pricing page or help centre, checked on 26 October 2026 and linked below. Prices change, so check before you buy.

What an AI visibility tool does

It asks AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers the questions your buyers ask, then shows whether your brand is named, which competitors are named instead, and which web pages the answers cite. The better tools also tell you what to change, and show whether the change worked.

How to choose

  • Engines covered. Some plans let you pick only a few of them, or charge extra for Gemini, Google AI Mode or Claude. Check that the engines your buyers use are included.
  • Questions tracked. Plans range from 15 to several hundred tracked prompts. More isn't better if you can't act on them.
  • Cited sources. The pages an answer cites are where you win or lose, so you want to see them, not just a score.
  • What to fix, and whether it worked. A score tells you where you stand; a suggested fix with evidence, and a before-and-after measurement, tell you what to do next.
  • Seats and brands. Agencies and larger teams should check how many people and businesses one plan covers.
